I'm a lecturer and Ph.D. student at the University of Zürich, Switzerland. I'm currently working on a typology of differential agent marking, i.e. a variation in case marking of the more agent-like argument (some linguists call it "subject") of transitive constructions. My other interests include evidentiality, modality, person, and also other subdisciplines of linguistics such as phonology, anthropological linguistics, historical linguistics (esp. grammaticalization), areal linguistics and linguistic complexity. For my typological studies I work with data from many languages from all parts of the world, but I'm slightly more familiar with Hungarian, Romanian, Russian, Turkish, Arabic, Indonesian and Tibetan, and I also conducted some fieldwork on Sentani, a Papuan (i.e. non-Austronesian) language spoken in northern New Guinea.
