I am Kristin Leifsdatter Lindbach. I am a master student of linguistics at NTNU. <br.> I live in Siljárbahkko/Skilvassbakk in Hamarøy (Hábmer) municipality in Lule Sami area. Here, my husband Harald and I have a small farm with some sheep, a horse, the 23 years old Rosita, which we use in farm work and forestry, a number of rabbits, and our cat, Miri. Through the years goats, a cow and calf, a number of different races of hens, ducks and geese have also been passing through the fences of the farm. We run an ecological farm, doing the work in the traditional way. Four of our children have been raised here. Today they are all off to studies or work - except the youngest one. <br.> I have learned both North Sami and Lule Sami, but I am not a frequent speaker of Sami - and my ability is suffering from this. Two of my children have learned Lule Sami on first language level, one of them on second language level: <br.> Arnhild (23), my first daughter, who changed from North Sami language-and-culture level to Lule Sami second-language level at Måsske/Musken school and then did her 10th grade in the Sami first-language class at Ájluokta/Drag School (both in Divtasvuona/Tysfjord), followed by higschool and university studies, now a master student of linguistics at NTNU (- as mother...). She is mother of a four year old girl, Kristine - or Risstin in Lule Sami, with whom she speaks Lule Sami only. <br.> Hans Ole (13), my fourth son, who did two years at the Sami kindergarten, first in Musken and then at Arran Lule Sami Center at Ájluokta/Drag, before he started school in the Sami first-language class, where he is now doing his 8th year at school. <br.> Kristmar (16), my second daughter, who did two years at North Sami language-and-culture level befor she changed to second-language level in Måsske/Musken and continued at Ájluokta/Drag, where she graduated. <br.> Harald, my husband, is a fluent North Sami speaker. He has taught North Sami and is the author of several books on first-language level for 2nd-4th grade, a beginner's book for highschool and a mini-grammar for use in school.
